Employee Spotlight: Mario Talotti
This month, we’re excited to introduce Mario Talotti, a valued Project Manager here at Monsoon Consulting. Originally from Cape Town, South Africa, Mario’s career journey has taken him from systems administration to project management across multiple industries. With his adaptability, dedication, and team spirit, Mario has become an integral part of the Monsoon family.
From South Africa to Ireland: A Journey of Discovery
Mario’s professional path started in Cape Town, where he began as a Microsoft Systems Administrator. Over the years, his career evolved as he moved into engineering roles within the Medical and Call Centre sectors in the UK and SA. Eventually, project management became his focus, drawing him to new challenges and learning opportunities.
Deciding to move internationally was a significant milestone. When Monsoon offered him a role in Ireland, Mario saw it as the perfect opportunity for him and his family. Reflecting on the move, he considers it one of his proudest achievements, a testament to his commitment to growth and adaptability.
A Day in the Life of a Project Manager
Mario’s day starts with a strong cup of coffee, setting the pace for a busy schedule. He begins by prioritising emails – addressing urgent tasks first and setting others aside for later. His meticulously organised to-do list keeps him on track as he manages multiple projects, ensuring timelines and objectives align.
Throughout the day, Mario collaborates with clients and team members, often moving between meetings and project stand-ups. Each day concludes with a review of progress, where he sets up tasks for the following day to maintain momentum. His attention to detail and forward-thinking approach make him an asset to any project team.
What Makes Monsoon Special
For Mario, Monsoon is more than just a workplace; it’s a community where support is a given. He describes the environment as one where everyone feels like family, with colleagues always ready to help regardless of their role. This sense of camaraderie has been especially meaningful, empowering Mario to tackle new challenges, like adapting to Drupal for a recent project.
The Monsoon team’s supportive culture has allowed him to develop professionally while feeling truly at home.
Beyond Work: A Life of Adventure and Community
When Mario isn’t working, he’s usually on the move. An avid triathlete, he embraces all forms of the sport and even completed a 270km run from Dublin to Creeslough last year, raising funds for the Creeslough Tragedy Fund. Mario’s love for sports extends into his role as assistant coach for an under-10s rugby team, where he’s as passionate about fostering growth in young players as he is about his own fitness journey.
He also enjoys DIY projects, photography, and unwinding with a good book – making him a well-rounded individual with diverse interests and a strong sense of community.
Guiding Principles: Leading with Empathy
Mario’s philosophy on teamwork is simple yet profound: “Your team isn’t just numbers on a spreadsheet; they’re people with dreams, feelings, and potential. Lead with empathy and understanding. That’s where real success begins.” This people-centred approach drives Mario’s success at Monsoon, inspiring colleagues to approach challenges with care and compassion.
