Employee Spotlight: Victoria Kadevska

This is our first Employee Spotlight post to give our clients, partners, and potential future employees an idea of who we are. This monthly series will introduce some of our team members from across the world and across departments, highlighting their professional interests, along with their lives outside of work.

Who is Victoria?

Victoria Kadevska is a UX/UI Designer at Monsoon Consulting and has been working in our Design team for over a year and a half. She’s been working as a designer since 2018 and holds a Master’s degree in Communication and Media. Originally from Ukraine, she has been culturally colonised by Britain, her new home.

A typical day for Victoria starts with a morning team catch up to prioritise the various projects for the day. Working closely with our Irish-based team means she’s acquired a bit of the accent over the years! She then spends time working on active client projects, optimising the UX flow to improve user journeys, and, of course, beautifying Monsoon’s internal and external brand materials.

She is especially proud of implementing Figma variables into Monsoon’s team projects. This tool  enables designers to speak the same language as developers, ensuring the visual mockups translate well into code and functionality.

I love that we all are kind and mature people here at Monsoon. We are sharing the same values and this helps us understand each other so easily.

Victoria’s Path to Monsoon

Having stayed friends with past clients over the years, Victoria visited Dublin in 2022 and met one of them for a cuppa (the Irish influence coming through!). He offered to recommend some IT companies to her and when she was looking for a new role, he shared Monsoon with her and the rest is history.

Prior to joining Monsoon, Victoria previously worked as a web designer for two Ukrainian software companies where she designed mobile apps and websites for various startups.

Outside of Work

Victoria moved to a foreign country all on her own due to the war in Ukraine. She is now living in London with her dog and tries to travel as much as she can–she’s visited 23 countries so far.

Before moving to the UK, she started a social club for foreign and Ukrainian students where they could improve their English and make friends through cross-cultural exchange.

She has an impressive artistic repertoire beyond design as well–she sings, plays the ukulele and piano, and paints! Victoria also enjoys reading about neurobiology and academic philosophy in her spare time.

3 interesting facts about Victoria:

  1. She has been attacked by a doe
  2. She doesn’t like ice cream
  3. She is very strongly against pineapple on pizza

“Happiness belongs to the brave.”

A quote that inspires Victoria comes from a book about the innocent political prisoners in the Soviet Union who managed to escape and survive in the Siberian forests, The Hunters and the Hunted.
