A Brief overview

Odaios Foods, a major player in Ireland’s food distribution industry, had relied solely on phone, email, and fax for processing orders. To meet their long-term growth objectives, they needed a digital transformation that would support scalable operations, reduce reliance on sales staff, and improve customer engagement. 

Odaios Foods is a leading Irish food distributor of multi-temperature foods and ingredients, primarily serving restaurants, hotels, cafes, and catering businesses, as well as fine food retailers. In 2022, they partnered with Monsoon Consulting to create a comprehensive eCommerce platform using Adobe’s Magento Open Source solution. With no previous eCommerce functionality, this was an entirely new build, developed from the ground up over two years.

The platform enables Odaios to shift from traditional sales methods to a fully digital self-service model, supporting their ambitious growth goal of increasing annual revenue to meet an ambitious growth goal over the next ten years. The new platform provides 24/7 customer access to ordering and account management, dramatically enhancing operational efficiency.

THE CHALLENGE

The challenge was to design a platform from scratch that could accommodate a vast product catalogue, offer real-time stock management, handle personalised pricing for B2B customers, and integrate seamlessly with their ERP system.

OUR SOLUTIONS

Monsoon Consulting developed a Magento Open Source platform that transformed Odaios’ sales model into a self-service digital solution. Key features include:

  • User-Centric Design: A mobile-friendly, intuitive design with features like favourites for reordering, notifications, and lead-time alerts.
  • Self-Service Functionality: Customers can manage their accounts, view order history, and place orders independently, reducing dependency on customer service.
  • B2B Customisation: Tailored pricing, user roles for varied access within companies, and real-time ERP integration ensure seamless business operations.
  • Content Management: The integration of Storyblok CMS allows Odaios to keep product information and promotions up to date with ease, without requiring developer intervention.

Since its launch in March 2024, the platform has delivered significant improvements:

  • 27% of orders are now placed online, with a target to reach 35% by the end of the year and 50% by the end of Q2 2025.
  • 5398 online orders since launch have saved over 12 hours per week in manual processing.
  • 99% of online orders are successfully completed, underscoring the platform’s reliability.
  • 40% of orders are placed via mobile or tablet, highlighting the importance of mobile optimisation for their customer base.

Customers have praised the platform for its ease of use and efficiency, with many highlighting the convenience of being able to place orders outside of traditional office hours.

The new Odaios website is incredibly convenient and easy to work on even if you’re not tech savvy. We find the website to be organised whether it is looking for product information or placing orders. It has saved us so much time and we can place an order any time of day.
